A prophetic dua (al-Tabarani and others)
اللَّهُمَّ سَلِّمْنَا لِرَمَضَانَ وَسَلِّمْ رَمَضَانَ لَنَا
This is a unique prayer because of the verb choice سَلِّمْ
It has many meanings of which ‘make safe’, ‘Grant peace’ and ‘make whole’ is some but also means to ‘hand over to’
The meaning of the prayer is multi dimensional It means
‘
Oh Allah, make us safe for the Ramadan (keep us safe for it)
And make Ramadan safe for us (make it a period of safety for us)
It also means
‘Oh Allah grant us peace for Ramadan and make Ramadan peaceful for us’
It also means
‘O Allah make us whole (ready) for Ramadan and make Ramadan whole(complete in blessings) for us’
Lastly
‘O Allah hand us over to Ramadan (let us benefit from it full heart, mind and body) and hand Ramadan over to us (with all its blessings, goodness, guidance and light)’🤲🤲🤲
